When Is NECO 2022 Result Coming Out?

If you enrolled and sat for the 2022 NECO examination which took place in June/July then you’re probably wondering when the result will be out.

I know you’re anxious to see your results, especially if you also sat for Jamb. That means you’ll be needing your Neco result for when you gain admission, as most universities and even Jamb will request for an O’level (Waec or NECO) result.

The good news is that NECO results will be coming out very soon and if you want to find out when to keep reading. In this article I’ll reveal the NECO results release date, the reason for the delay and how to check your Neco result when it is out.

Is NECO Result Out?

At the time of writing this article, the answer to this question is No. The NECO result is not out yet. The National Examination Council NECO has not officially released the 2022/2023 NECO SSCE result for both internal and external students.

Why is NECO Result Not Yet Out?

The National Examination Council has been working round the clock to ensure that the 2022/2023 NECO SSCE results come out even before the stipulated 90 days after the end of the examination. According to the council, about 98% of the results are ready but it was also stated that the council encountered some challenges like script marking, which have contributed to the delayed results.

Currently, almost all results have been collated. The council apologises for the delay and urges students to be patient.

When will NECO result for 2022 be out?

NECO exams ended in August and results are usually released within 90 days after the last examination. Give or take, it might be a few days longer or shorter. Unlike its counterpart, Waec has been keeping a good track record of releasing results before the 45-day mark. This year NECO made a public statement through its registrar, Prof. Wushishi who announced that they will try to reduce the time to 45 days.

We’re not sure if they’ll be able to keep to this promise. Judging from last year, it took two (2)  months and fourteen (14) days for the results to be released. The exams ended on the 16th of August 2021 and the results came out 29th of October 2021. So on average it usually takes about 60-70 days after the last paper for the NECO result to come out.

If we are to calculate based on what Prof. Wushishi said, counting 45 days from the last examination paper which was written on the 12th of August 2022, the estimated release date for NECO result would be on the 27th of September. With this in mind, you can rest assured that your result is just a few days away.

Now when exactly is the NECO result for 2022 coming out? Well, the official date announced by NECO is the 8th of September. This means your results would be out very soon, so I advise that you visit this page regularly or better still add it to your bookmarks. This way, you’ll be among the first set of students to know when the NECO results are out.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is NECO?

NECO is an acronym for National Examination Council and it is the national body responsible for conducting the senior secondary school certificate examination  SSCE and the General certificate examination GCE  in Nigeria. Both examinations are held in June/July and November/December respectively.

According to Wikipedia, NECO was in April 1999 by the former head of state Abdulsalami Abubakar to offer subsidized registration to academic candidates in Nigeria against its counterpart, WAEC.

Alongside offering affordable registration fees, NECO was charged with taking over the responsibilities of the National Board of Examination Measurement (NBEM). NECO’s maiden examination took place in the year 2000 and has since been taken annually, making it 22 years since it was established.

NECO examinations are grouped into internal and external. The internal SSCE is for candidates within the school system while the external SSCE is for private candidates that are not in the school system. For internal SSCE, there are seventy-six subjects for school candidates to choose from and they are grouped into six categories which are:

  • Science and Mathematics
  • Compulsory cross-cutting subjects
  • Technology
